American expat Katherine “Kit” Pepper started Cheers Croatia Magazine as the English-language source for news and information about Croatian wine. It is for visitors to Croatia, Croatians around the world who want wine news in English, expats in Croatia, and anyone in the international wine trade who needs information about Croatia and its wines.
Kit first visited Croatia in 2007, when she traveled from Istria along the coast to Dubrovnik and then inland to Kutjevo on wine business. Back in New York, as wine buyer for a boutique shop in Astoria, she was among the first to feature wine from the countries of the former Yugoslavia. When she opened Kit’s Underground Wine & Spirits in Manhattan, it became a place where wine lovers and sommeliers could seek out the unusual—wines from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Czech Republic, Georgia, Lebanon, Japan…
She holds the WSET Diploma (DWS) and is a Certified Wine Educator (CWE). On the basis of a first career in book publishing, she has edited wine and spirits books for international publishers, and has written for both trade and consumer wine publications. She has worked harvest in Campania (IT) and New York State, and judged wine competitions in New York and Croatia.
Kit lives with her husband on the island of Brač, near Split, Croatia.

Neither Cheers Croatia Magazine nor Katherine Pepper are affiliated with any other wine- or tourism-related business or organization. Any updates to this statement will be made at the bottom of this text and in any relevant article. Trips are paid for by the magazine unless other press is being offered the same on equal terms at the same time. Any such sponsored trips are disclosed in the relevant article. The magazine and its writers do not accept gifts (including accommodation), although it occasionally accepts meals in the context of wine tasting, as well as wine from producers.
